[The story of being happy] Let’s look at “The story of a certain university professor about a pot” from a different angle!

Blog(English)

Hello!
Today, let’s start by talking about life and think about ourselves together! !

Today’s theme is “A must-see for college students and below! A story about a jar told by a university professor! ! 』
I also love the story of a university professor preaching to students about the way of thinking about life.

What’s really interesting is that at first glance, it ends with “I see!”, but after a while, when you read it again, you can think differently.

Read on as you answer the questions to see how you would answer if you were a student.

“Come on, it’s quiz time!”
Saying so, the university professor took out a large pot and placed it on the podium.

One by one he filled the jar with stones. Filling the pot with stones until it was full, he asked the student.
“Is this jar full?”

The students in the classroom answered “yes”.

“Really?”
While saying that, the professor took out a bucket full of gravel from under the podium.

Then he pours the gravel into the jar and, shaking the jar, fills the spaces between the stones with gravel.
and heard again.
“Is this jar full?”

students cannot answer. One student replied, “Probably not.” The professor laughed, “Yes,” and took out a bucket of sand from behind the podium. After he poured it into the crevices of stone and gravel, he asked the question a third time.
“Is this jar full?”

The students answered in unison, “No.” The professor took out a jug and poured water all the way to the brim of the pot. He asks the students one final question.
“Do you know what I mean?”

One student raised his hand.
“No matter how tight your schedule is, you can always squeeze in as long as you do your best.”

“No,” said the professor.

“The important thing is not there. The truth of this example is that unless you put the big stone in first, there will never be room for it again.”

The professor begins to talk about what is the “big stone” in your life.
“It could be your job, your ambition, or your dream…”

“The ‘big stone’ here is the most important thing to you. Put it in the jar first, or you will lose it forever. If you If you fill your jar with gravel, sand, and other things that don’t matter to you, your life will be filled with something that doesn’t matter.”

“And you will lose time for the big stone, the thing that matters most to you, and thus lose itself.”

…How was it?
When I saw it for the first time, I learned deeply that “life should not be in the wrong order.”

However, when I saw the same story two years later, I thought:

・Is it possible to change the size and shape of the pot?
・Isn’t it possible to put stones in smaller pieces?

What the professor said is absolutely correct.
But that’s not all.
I think it’s because of the experience that I’ve been able to achieve what I’ve wanted to do for many years.

In other words,

there is no single answer, and it is never too late.

Know various ways of thinking, choose from among them, and go on the path you believe!

are you OK! All is well.
I would appreciate it if you could feel a little happy.
